Shahzad Raja is a consultant cardiac surgeon at Harefield Hospital, England. He received his specialty training in cardiothoracic surgery at Glasgow University Hospitals, Harefield Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, all based in the UK. He has a special interest in clinical research and quality improvement, and assessing the impact of off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery and arterial grafting in improving outcomes. He has published widely on all aspects of cardiac surgery. He has contributed chapters to different cardiac surgery textbooks as well as to undergraduate and postgraduate surgery books, including books for the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (MRCS) and Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS(C-Th)) examinations. He has authored several books for the FRCS cardiothoracic surgery examination including 250 SBAs in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Single Best Answer Questions in Cardiothoracic Surgery, and 200 Practice Question in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is the editor of Cardiac Surgery: A Complete Guide (2020).
