Dr Jean-d'Amour Twibanire completed his BSc in Chemistry (Honors) in 2007 and his PhD Chemistry in 2013 at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. He was awarded the prestigious Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship, which he held at CanAm Bioresearch Inc. in Winnipeg, Canada, focusing mainly on Medicinal Chemistry.
Outside of Chemistry, he holds several certificates including in international organizations management (University of Geneva, Switzerland), international relations (Leiden University, Netherlands), 'Configuring the World: A Political Economy Approach' (Leiden University), and in global diplomacy-diplomacy in the modern world (University of London).
Jean-d'Amour has published several papers in international chemistry journals. He has also published outside of chemistry, with articles including “The United Nations Security Council: Imbalance of Power and the Need for Reform”, which was published last year in the open-access International Journal of Political Science and Diplomacy.
He has worked at Dalhousie University for several semesters as an Instructor in the Department of Chemistry. He is currently a Research Scientist with CanAm Bioresearch Inc. in Winnipeg, Canada.
