Dr Yi Weng

Dr Yi Weng is a creative leading expert on telecommunications and digital signal processing for high-speed optical transmission (100Gb/s, 400Gb/s and beyond). He received his BS degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, his MS from Louisiana State University, USA, and his PhD from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He possesses in-depth knowledge of various aspects relating to photonic networking technologies and advanced modulation formats, as well as a unique combination of theoretical and experimental skills on dynamic 5G optical networks and coherent detection.

He has published over 50 journal and conference papers related to photonic devices and their system applications, several book chapters and holds seven US patents. He served as the Conference Events Officer in the executive committee of the OSA (the Optical Society) technical group in fiber modeling and fabrication from 2015 to 2017, and continues to serve as the Events Officer for students/junior researchers in the OSA executive committee.

Yi was also chosen to serve as a member of the Joseph Fraunhofer Award/Robert M. Burley Prize Committee. He has been consistently invited to serve as a referee and reviewer to judge the work of other researchers in top international journals including Optics Express, Optics Letters, the Journal of Lightwave Technology, Optics Communications, IEEE Photonics Journal, Applied Optics, and others. In addition, he also serves as a technical program committee member for prestigious conferences such as SPPCom and WOCC.
