Dr Vincenzo Costanzo

Architectural Engineering

University of Reading

Dr Vincenzo Costanzo attained a PhD in Energetics from the University of Catania, Italy, discussing the use of cool materials to existing roof structures in European office buildings as a cost-effective technology for passive cooling purposes. As a researcher involved in the broad field of the sustainable built environment, his interests span from the study of feasible strategies for reducing the energy needs of buildings – at the scale of single buildings as well as that of clusters – to the generation of renewable energy from active solar systems. He is particularly keen to explore how daylighting measures help provide better visual and thermal comfort conditions to the occupants of enclosed spaces.

He is currently working at the University of Reading, UK, as a Research Associate for two different collaborative research projects and as an ad hoc lecturer for different courses in the field of Energy and Environmental Engineering.
