Professor Dr Sylvia van de Bunt-Kokhuis is co-director of the Servant-leadership Centre for Research and Education (SERVUS) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has had an international career in business and academia, and has been serving as a management consultant for various firms such as Digital Equipment, Vendex International, KLM and Ahold, the European Commission, UNESCO, and NGO’s. She has been a Visiting Professor at Middlesex University London, Liverpool Hope University and the University Campus Suffolk.
Sylvia has worked with the European Commission as the coordinator of a large scale European project FILTER, investigating the credibility/integrity and cultural filtering of online content. She has published extensively in academic journals on cross cultural education, talent diversity and corporate (e-)culture and her books ‘Academic Pilgrims’ (PhD study, Tilburg University Press, 1996), ‘World Wide Work’ (VU University Press, 2006, editor) and co-edited the books ‘Handboek Internationaal Talent’ (Weka, 2007) and ‘Competing for Talent’ (Royal Van Gorcum, 2009).
Sylvia was a member of the Supervisory Board of, amongst others, Compu’Train and Kennisnet. She is President of NGVO, the Dutch Speaking Society for Comparative Education, and the Flemish/Dutch Member Society of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (www.wcces.net). In Quote 600 she was elected as one of the most influential people in the Netherlands (Quote, July 2003, nr. 210).
