Dr Silvano Vergura

Silvano Vergura received his MSc and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, in 1999 and 2003 respectively, where he is currently teaching Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering. His main research interests concern the modeling and monitoring of Renewable Energy Systems (RES), nonlinear analysis in power systems, and new technologies in smart city contexts. He has focused his attention on the energy performance analysis of photovoltaic plants by means of infrared analysis and by means of the descriptive and inferential statistics of electrical data.

He has served as a member of the international program committees of several international conferences and symposia, and has served as a reviewer of over 20 international journals. He is the author or co-author of over 70 printed international publications. He has a patent on the ageing of PV modules and has designed several pieces of software, one of which ( is devoted to the processing of the infrared images of defected PV modules. He is Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the Academic Senate of the Polytechnic University of Bari.
