Dr Siddhartha Bhattacharyya undertook his Bachelors in Physics, Bachelors in Optics and Optoelectronics, and Masters in Optics and Optoelectronics from the University of Calcutta, India in 1995, 1998 and 2000 respectively. He completed PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, India in 2008.
Siddhartha is currently the Principal of the RCC Institute of Information Technology, India, and also serves as the institute's Dean of Research and Development and Academic Affairs. Prior to this, he was Associate Professor and later Professor of Information Technology at the institute, and served as the Head of the Department from 2014 to 2016. He has also previously served as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Burdwan, India, from 2005-2011, and Lecturer in Information Technology at Kalyani Government Engineering College, India, from 2001-2005.
His research interests include soft computing, pattern recognition, multimedia data processing, hybrid intelligence and quantum computing. He is the co-author of four books, has co-edited another eight titles, and has more than 170 research publications in international journals and conference proceedings to his credit. He has also got a patent on intelligent colorimeter technology. He has been the member of the organizing and technical program committees of several national and international conferences, and was the General Chair of a number of conferences including the International Conference on Wireless Communications, Network Security and Signal Processing (WCNSSP 2016).
Siddhartha has served as the Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Ambient Computing and Intelligence, and currently serves as the Editor of the International Journal of Pattern Recognition Research and as the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Pattern Recognition Research and the International Journal of BioInfo Soft Computing. He is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Engineering, Science and Technology, ACCENTS Transactions on Information Security, the HETC Journal of Computer Engineering and Applications, and Applied Soft Computing.
He is the lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue of Applied Soft Computing on Hybrid Intelligent Techniques for Image Analysis and Understanding of Applied Soft Computing, and was also lead Guest Editor of the special issue on Computational Intelligence and Communications in the International Journal of Computers and Applications. Siddhartha is also the series editor of Advances in Information Quality and Management (IGI Global) and of Frontiers in Computational Intelligence (De Gruyter).
He is a fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India, and is a member of numerous other institutions and associations including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA, the International Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hong Kong, the Association for Computing Machinery, USA, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. He is a life member of the Computer Society of India, the Optical Society of India, the Indian Society for Technical Education and the Center for Education Growth and Research, India.
He received the University Gold Medal from the University of Calcutta for his Masters, as well as the coveted National Award Adarsh Vidya Saraswati Rashtriya Puraskar for excellence in education and research in 2016. He is the recipient of the Distinguished HoD Award and Distinguished Professor Award conferred by the Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, in 2017. Other awards Siddhartha has received in 2017 include the Bhartiya Shiksha Ratan Award conferred by the Economic Growth Foundation, New Delhi, the NACF-SCRA India award for Best Faculty for Research, the Honorary Doctorate Award (DLitt) from the University of South America, and the South East Asia Regional Computing Confederation International Digital Award ICT Educator of the Year.
