Sharangouda J. Patil is currently Associate Professor at Garden City College. He obtained PhD in zoology in 2007 from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, India. He has subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship on a World Bank funded project in ICAR's reputed National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore, during which time he has worked om livestock extension. During this project he undertook field and lab research, and as a result has published books, CDs, technical articles, technical bulletins, and research articles.
During his teaching and research career, Sharangouda has published more than 50 research articles, one book, six book chapters, five technical bulletins, and several technical articles in national and international peer reviewed journals. He has participated and presented research papers at more than 60 conferences, seminars, and workshops, and has been awarded many best paper presentation awards. His research specilisations include reproductive biology, endocrinology, animal biotechnology, toxicology, pharmacology, medicinal plants and natural products, hydrobiology, and limnology. He is currently a member of the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility, the Indian Science Congress Association, and sits on the boards of the Medicinal Plants-International Journal of Phytomedicines and Related Industries, the Indian Veterinary Journal, and the Foundation for Promotion of Basic and Applied Science. Lastly, he also serves as an edtior or reviewer to more than 30 journals.
