Dr Saribek Gevorgyan

Quantum Optics

National Academy of Sciences of Armenia

Dr Saribek Gevorgyan graduated with honors from the Radiophysics Faculty of Yerevan State University and received at diploma in radiophysics in 1983. He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in physics and mathematics at the Institute for Physical Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. Saribek's thesis focused on quantum optics, and in it he developed a quantum theory of fourwave mixing. In 2016, he defended his Sc.D. in physical and mathematical sciences at Yerevan State University, which again focused on quantum optics. In this thesis, Saribek developed a quantum theory of unstable optical processes, investigated the mechanisms of formationand destruction of quantum coherence in optical systems as well as analysing the mechanisms of formation of Schrodinger cat type states of optical field.

Saribek currently holds a research position at the Institute for Physical Research of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. He leads a research group in quantum optics, and is interested in quantum dynamics of unstable optical systems, mechanisms of formation and destruction of quantum coherence, the symmetry of the field and the vacuum in optical processes, and finally in mechanisms of formation of entangled states of field.
