Professor Samuel Awuah-Nyamekye

Samuel Awuah-Nyamekye is an Associate Professor of Religion and Environment in the Department of Religion and Human Values at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana, where he has taught for the past 14 years. He is currently the head of his Department. Samuel obtained his PhD from the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leeds, UK.

His primary research has been into how to address the possibility of integrating indigenous ecological knowledge which has religio-cultural underpinnings into the modern means of addressing environmental problems in Ghana, in particular, and beyond. Other areas that he has been working on include environmental ethics, religion and development, women and religion, religion and medicine, and religion and politics.
