Dr Ali Saad


Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

Dr Ali Saad is a graduate of the American University of Beirut. After a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Cincinnati, he pursued two fellowships elsewhere in the US: the first at the combined neuropathology program at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Boston Children’s Hospital, and the second in pediatric pathology at Boston Children’s Hospital (both institutions are teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School).

After finishing his training, he became director of anatomic pathology and surgical pathology and, subsequently, acting pathologist-in-chief, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. This was followed by a series of leadership positions including director of anatomic pathology, director of surgical pathology, director of neuropathology and director of pediatric pathology at Baptist Hospital/MD Anderson Cancer Center and Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, USA; director of pediatric pathology and director of neuropathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center/Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, USA. He currently serves as pathologist-in-chief at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and director of Neuropathology at the Methodist/Le Bonheur Health System in Memphis, USA.

Ali has published extensively in the fields of bone and soft tissue pathology and neuropathology. With over 50 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, he is considered one of the leading figures in pediatric bone and soft tissue pathology in the United States. In 2018, he edited the very first book dedicated to pediatric and adult meningiomas. He has also trained numerous residents and fellows, and he continues to be a prolific writer with a particular interest in pediatric gastrointestinal pathology, pediatric bone and soft tissue pathology, and neoplastic neuropathology.
