Professor Robert D. Luginbill

Robert D. Luginbill is a Professor of Classics in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages at the University of Louisville, USA. Robert is the author of Thucydides on War and National Character (Boulder 1999), and Author of Illusions: Thucydides' Re-writing of the History of the Peloponnesian War (Newcastle upon Tyne 2011), along with numerous other articles on Greek and Latin literature, history and historiography.

He served in the USMC from 1975 to 1979, reaching the rank of Captain, and holds degrees from the University of Illinois Chicago, the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, Talbot Theological Seminary and the University of California Irvine, from which he received his PhD in 1990. Robert has been with the University of Louisville since 1991, and received the university-wide award for distinguished teaching in 2010.
