Renata Nunes Oliveira is a Professor of Materials Engineering at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), Brazil. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Materials Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro between 2002 and 2014.
During her Doctorate (2010-2014), she worked as a temporary lecturer at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and in 2012/13, she was relocated to Dublin to do part of her doctorate research at Dublin City University, Ireland. She returned to Dublin in 2014 to pursue her Post-doctoral work at Dublin City University.
Her graduate studies were focused on biomaterials for wound care, and her Post-doctoral work was specifically on hydrogels for wound healing loaded with natural antimicrobial agents. She currently works at the UFRRJ teaching and supervising undergraduate students of Materials Engineering and graduate students on the Postgraduate program on Chemical Engineering (PPGEQ).
Renata's research projects are related to hydrogels for wound care loaded with Brazilian natural products, hydrogels for adsorption, recycled materials and the development of plastic materials for packaging applications. She acts as a reviewer for Materials Chemistry and Physics and the Journal of Applied Polymer Science. She also acts as Editor of the Journal Revista de Ciências Exatas.
