Dr Peter Sakwe Masumbe, PhD, is a free-thinker, whose love, admiration and vision for entrenching peace, justice and liberal democratic societies imbued with progress, prosperity and happiness in developing areas spans from his undergraduate days at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1986 henceforth. Within this philosophy, he enlisted into a two years, University Diploma/Certificate Course in Conflict Studies and Local Government Administration at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1986 to 1988. From there he proceeded for a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration at the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, where he graduated as the Best Overall Student in Public Administration in 1991.
Further, he proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained an MSc Degree in 1993 in Political Science/Public Administration, with stress on Public Policy and International Relations. Between 1994 and 1996, he was among 13 out of 1228 candidates to be competitively admitted into the Cameroon’s prestigious public service school – Ecole d’Administration and et de la Magistrature (ENAM) Yaoundé-Cameroon. His flair for more theoretical and empirical groundings in Public Policy and International Relations pushed him back to the classroom, and in 2004 he obtained a PhD in Political Science and Public Administration with research interests in Public Policy, International Relations and Conflict Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria.
While mixing his duties as a Senior Civil Servant and Assistant Lecturer between 2006 and 2014 at the University of Buea, Cameroon, he was promoted to grade of a full-time Senior Lecturer in Public Policy, International Relations and Conflict Studies, at the same; University, cumulatively with his duties as a Senior Public Policy Analyst in the Prime Minister’s Office in Cameroon. Dr. Masumbe has attended several national and international academic and professional seminars.
With his deep intellectual interests in Public Policy, International Relations and Conflict Studies, Dr. Masumbe is an Alumna of the US State Department Exchange Programme, for the Study of the United States Institutions, (SUSI) 2010 batch, in which he completed a six weeks course with stress on US Foreign Policy at the University of Florida at Gainesville, USA. He is also a graduate of the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Centre (MCTC), Haifa, Israel, wherein he attended another six weeks training in Conflict and Crisis Intervention in the Community in 2004. He has publications as book chapters, with renowned publishers such as Palgrave Macmillan. He is a visiting scholar at the Institute of Humanities and Social Science, African Union's Pan African University, SOA, Yaoundé, Cameroon and the Catholic Madonna University, Okija, Nigeria, including others.
