Dr Olayiwola Abegunrin

Olayiwola Abegunrin is Professor of International Relations, African Studies, and Political Economy at Howard University and University of Maryland. He was formerly Chair in the Department of International Relations at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and is also currently a Carnegie Mellon Foundation Fellow. He is the author, co-author, editor, and co-editor of fifteen books, several book chapters and many articles in refereed journals. He was a recipient of the Howard University Distinguished Faculty Author award for scholarly work published between 1998 and 2000, and for the 2002-2003 academic year. Olayiwola's areas of teaching and research interest are international relations, African studies, political economy, and United States foreign policy. His latest book is entitled Nigeria-United States Relations 1960-2016 (2018), and he is a member of the Honor Society of International Scholars, the Royal African Society, and the advisory board for Global Studies: AFRICA.
