Professor Oana Tatu


Transilvania University of Brașov

Oana Tatu is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Letters at Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania, and current coordinator of the faculty's English major study programme.

She obtained a PhD in Linguistics and an MA in British Cultural Studies. Her research and professional interests fall within the scope of literary translation, applied linguistics, and Renaissance English literature, and have materialized in several publications in these fields, most notably in the monograph Translating Shakespeare. The Challenge of the Romanian Language. She has participated in research projects and acted as linguistic consultant and teacher trainer in international projects dealing with complex interdisciplinary topics.

Since 2011, she has also co-organized the international Conference on British and American Studies, an annual academic forum hosted by Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania. She has co-edited the conference proceedings for the Conference on British and American Studies since 2013. Currently she represents the Faculty of Letters as member of the editorial board of the Bulletin of Transilvania University of Brașov (the Philology and Cultural Studies Series), and she was the editor of the 2015 issue of the same journal.
