Dr Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma received his MSc in physics with a specialisation in electronics from Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra, and his PhD from the Department of Physics, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. He has published several research papers in reputed international journals and in international conference proceedings. He has worked on several projects at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, where he was involved with developing electronic nose and vision for aroma detection and in developing data acquisition systems (DAQ) (software and hardware) for geotechnical instruments.

Mohit has been awarded several national level scholarships, such as the Sahara India Scholarship in 2003, and the Indian Railway Ccademic Scholarship in 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2009. He is a member of several research societies, particulaarly the IEEE Photonic Society, the IEEE and Plasma Science Society of India, and the OSA and SPIE. He has served as a reviewer for several reputed international journals such as the IEEE Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, IEEE Sensors Letters, Applied Optics, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Journal of Optics, Journal of Nanophotonics, Optical and Quantum Electronics, Optical Engineering, and Journal of Modern Optics. In doing this work he has earned an outstanding reviewer award in 2018 from Results in Physics an a similar award in 2016 from the Journal of Optics. His research interests include nonlinear optics, fiber optics, photonic crystal fiber, supercontinuum generation, soliton generation, optical communication and fiber optic sensors.
