Dr Leonidas Hatzithomas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia. He holds a PhD in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advertising, a MSc in Business Computing and a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He was a postdoctoral researcher, and was awarded a fellowship, in Social Media Communications at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has taught in universities in Greece and Cyprus since 2005.
His research interests include humour in advertising, gender issues in advertising, metaphor in advertising, advertising effectiveness, consumer behaviour and social media communication. He has published in a number of journals including the International Marketing Review, the International Journal of Advertising, Psychology and Marketing, Humor: International Journal of Humor Research, the Journal of Marketing Communications, the International Journal of Internet Marketing and Advertising, the Journal of Customer Behaviour, the Journal of Managerial Issues, the Journal of Current issues and Research in Advertising, Advances in Advertising Research and the Journal of Applied Business Research.
He is an ad-hoc reviewer for 12 peer-reviewed international journals, including the European Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Consumer Behaviour. He has presented his work at a number of international academic conferences, such as the European Marketing Academy Conference (EMAC), the International Conference on Research in Advertising (ICORIA) and the International Conference on Corporate and Marketing Communications (CMC).
