Dr Jonathan De Roo received an FWO doctoral fellowship to study the surface chemistry of metal oxide nanocrystals and obtained his PhD at Ghent University, Belgium, in March 2016. In 2015, he worked alongside Professor Maksym Kovalenko (ETH Zürich, Switzerland) for three months to study the surface chemistry of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals.
After receiving a Fulbright award and Belgian American Education Foundation fellowship, in 2016 he began working as a post-doctoral research fellow at Columbia University, USA, alongside Professor Jonathan S. Owen.
Currently, he is focused on the organic synthesis of new ligands for nanocrystals, organometallic synthesis and the governing principles of nanocrystal nucleation and growth. He is also a member of the community board of Nanoscale Horizons.
