Professor J. Paulo Davim received his MEng in 1986, his MSc in 1991 and his PhD in 1997, all on the subject of Mechanical Engineering and all from the University of Porto, Portugal. He received his Aggregate title (Full Habilitation) from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2005, and his DSc from London Metropolitan University in 2013.
He is Eur Ing by FEANI-Brussels and a Senior Chartered Engineer, recognised by the Portuguese Institution of Engineers, with a MBA and specialist title in Engineering and Industrial Management. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aveiro, Portugal.
He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in materials and mechanical engineering and manufacturing, with special emphasis in machining and tribology. He is also interested in management and industrial engineering, and higher education for sustainability and engineering education.
J. Paulo has received several scientific awards, and has worked as an evaluator of projects for various international research agencies, as well as an examiner of PhD theses for many universities. He is the Editor-in-Chief and guest Editor of several international journals, and the editor of books and book series. His is also a scientific advisor for many international journals and conferences.
Presently, he is an Editorial Board member of 25 international journals and acts as reviewer for more than 80 prestigious Web of Science journals. In addition, he has published more than 100 books as editor (and co-editor) and more than 10 books, 60 book chapters and 400 articles as author (and co-author) in journals and conference proceedings, with more than 200 articles in journals indexed in Web of Science core collection (Web of Science h-index 40+/5000+ citations, SCOPUS h-index 50+/7000+ citations).
