Ileana Carmen Rogobete is a licensed psychologist and systemic family psychotherapist. She is the director and founder of the Areopagus Institute of Family Therapy and Systemic Practice in Timisoara, Romania.
She received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, with a thesis on the psychological impact of political violence and survivors’ recovery process in the aftermath of trauma. She has a multicultural experience in teaching and research as well as in clinical practice with families and couples from various cultural backgrounds.
Between 2007 and 2013, she was involved in several clinical and educational research projects at the University of Cape Town and the Cornerstone Institute in South Africa. Some of the courses she taught included family and development studies, group therapy and family counselling. She serves as a member of various professional boards and international family therapy associations.
The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy in Ottawa, Canada, certified Ileana as a clinical supervisor and therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Her publications and research interests focus on family development, attachment, emotionally focused therapy, trauma and resilience.
