Dr Igor Žagar is Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Center for Discourse Studies at the Educational Research Institute, Slovenia, and is also Professor of Rhetoric and Argumentation at the University of Primorska, Slovenia.
Between 1986 and 1987, he received a French government scholarship for post-graduate education at the Université Paris VIII, France, where his supervisors were François Châtelet and Philippe Soulez. He received a Slovenian governmant scholarship for PhD thesis preparation, carried out between 1989 and 1990 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, France, where his supervisor was Oswald Ducrot. He has since carried out research work at various foreign universities, including the University of Antwerp, Belgium (1993-1994, and 1997).
He is the Editor of School Field (Journal for Theory and Research in Education), Editor-in-Chief of the e-Book series Digital Library (http://www.pidigitallibrary.si), Associate Editor of Lodz Papers in Pragmatics, and editorial and advisory board member of journals including Keria (Journal for Classical Studies and Humanities), Research in Language, and Windsor Studies in Argumentation (Rhetoric and Argumentation). He is also a member of the international scientific committee of the Polish Society of Rhetoric Quarterly.
