Dr Hrvoje Pilko has been a research assistant in the Department of Road Transport, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, since 2009. In 2014 he pursued a PhD in transportation engineering (thesis title: “Optimization of Roundabout Design and Safety Component”) at the same institution, where he has also been an Assistant Professor since 2017.
His research primarily focuses on the incorporation of multi-criteria decision-making and multi-objective optimization methods to roundabouts and studying their traffic (operational) efficiency (TE), traffic safety (TS), and environmental and economic parameters. More recently, he has been studying travel behaviour on level crossings.
Hrvoje has contributed to a range of EU-funded projects (FP-7, IPA, EBRD and others). He has published over 30 research papers, book chapters and conference proceedings, and his work has appeared in top research journals such as Transportation Research Part C, Transport, PROMET – Traffic and Transportation, GRADJEVINAR and elsewhere.
