Dr Georgios Giannakopoulos

Dr Georgios Giannakopoulos is an cultural and intellectual historian of Modern Britain and Europe. He studied political science and history in Greece and holds a PhD in Modern History from Queen Mary University of London (School of History).

His research interests revolve around British international thought, Eastern Europe, the rise of regional knowledge and expertise and the entwined trajectories of nationalism, internationalism and imperialism in twentieth century Europe.

Georgios has held research and teaching posts at New York University, Queen Mary and University College London, and Panteion University, Greece. He has published in the History of European IdeasModern Intellectual History, Global Intellectual History  and the Journal of Modern Greek Studies. For more about his work, visit
