Dr Francesco Caridi obtained his Master of Science degree cum laude in Physics from Messina University, Italy, in 2003, and his PhD in Physics from the same institution in 2007, with an excellent final assessment. From 2007 to 2008 he was a research assistant in the Department of Physics at Messina University, and from 2008 to 2014 he was Expert Physicist in the Science Faculty and the Department of Physics, also at Messina University. Since 2014, he has been PhD researcher at the Environmental Protection Agency of Calabria, Italy.

Francesco is the author and co-author of about 150 publications in internationally reviewed journals, and national and international conferences proceedings. He is referee of many international reviews and an editorial board member of Cogent Physics, the US Open Physics Journal, the Journal of Radiation and Nuclear Applications, the American Journal of Condensed Matter Physics and the Journal of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

His research interests includes lasers; laser-matter interaction; non-equilibrium plasma production, diagnostics and applications; radiations detectors; environmental radioactivity; gammaspectrometry; alpha-spectrometry; liquid scintillation; emanometry; and applied physics to cultural heritage, environment, biology and medicine.
