Dr Evgeniy Sheskin

Power Systems

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University

Dr Evgeniy Sheskin obtained his Master's degree in Technical Sciences from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in 2010. Immediately thereafter, he began his PhD studies at the same university, and after three years of research work, dedicated to computer simulation of controllable shunt reactors for electromagnetic transients’ studies, he received his PhD in 2013. At the same time, he also joined the Scientific and Technical Center of Unified Power System (STC UPS), Russia, as an engineer.

He is currently the Deputy Head of the Power Systems Department at STC UPS and Vice Professor in the Power Systems Department at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, where he takes several courses, including advanced training courses for foreign specialists and students.

His professional interests lie mostly in the area of electromagnetic transient processes and reactive power flow optimization, but extend to electromechanical transients, power flow analysis, programming and the creation of computerized smart systems (one of which has been patented by Evgeniy and his co-authors). The results of his research can be found in a number of publications, patents, and books.
