Dr Emilia Wąsikiewicz-Firlej

Ecocommunication

Adam Mickiewicz University

Dr Emilia Wąsikiewicz-Firlej received both her MA in English Studies and PhD in Applied Linguistics from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. Currently, she works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecocommunication of Adam Mickiewicz University. Her research delves into applied linguistics and communication studies, focusing on professional communication, intercultural communication and specialised discourse.

Emilia has published over 40 academic papers, including journal articles, book chapters and edited collections. At the moment she is finalising the release of her monograph On (de)constructing corporate identity: An ecolinguistics approach with Adam Mickiewicz University Academic Press. The volume integrates four transversal themes that have so far underlain the scholar’s research: identity, discourse, ideology and ecology. The novelty of the book lies in the application of computer-assisted Ecological Discourse Analysis to the study of ideological underpinning of corporate identity discourse in cyberspace.

She is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. Her rich teaching practice encompasses a range of subjects, including EFL and ESP at all levels, professional communication, public relations, theory of communication, public speaking, British culture and literature, and MA and BA seminars. She has also delivered guest lectures abroad, including in Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Spain. Before entering the world of academia, she worked as a marketing and public relations specialist.
