Dr Darfizzi Derawi

Oleochemistry

National University of Malaysia



Dr Darfizzi Derawi has been a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)), Selangor, Malaysia since 2014. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (MMIC) and Malaysian Analytical Sciences Society (ANALIS). He has been awarded the Newton Advanced Fellowship and has been appointed as a Research Fellow at the Royal Society, UK, from March 2016 until February 2019.

Prior to this he was appointed as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Birmingham's School of Chemical Engineering in 2016. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2012 and BSc (Hons) in Oleochemistry in 2008, both from UKM. His current research interests are oils and fats, oleochemistry, biolubricant, nanomaterials and catalysis for bioenergy. He is the founder of the Oleochemistry and Renewable Technology (ORTech) research group.
