Professor Brijesh C. Purohit

Since 2008, Dr. Brijesh C. Purohit has been working as a Professor at Madras School of Economics, India. He holds a PhD in economics, has nearly 25 years of professional experience including teaching, training, research and consultancy, and has published a number of books and numerous articles in national and international journals. He has also presented his papers at various national and international forums.

He has spent many years specializing in the field of health economics, financing, and public economics. He has addressed diverse issues of health financing, social sector expenditure efficiency and equity in health care. He has served as faculty at various reputed academic institutions in India including the Centre for Policy Research, the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (New Delhi), the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (Jaipur), the Institute of Development Studies (Jaipur), the Administrative Staff College of India (Hyderabad) and Nirma Institute of Management (Ahmedabad).

In his teaching career, he has taught at Master's Level to students in Economics, Management and Public Health, while he has also been a consultant for international agencies like DFID, Deloitte and USAID. He was the recipient of fellowships from ICSSR and the International Hospital Association, UK. He has also remained South Asian Visiting Scholar at Queen Elizabeth House at Oxford University, UK.
