Bezen Balamir Coskun, PhD is an international relations scholar with a particular interest in security studies and foreign policy. Bezen received her Master's degree in Development and International Relations from Aalborg University, Denmark, and her PhD degree in International Relations from Loughborough University, UK.
After several years of teaching and research experience in higher education institutions, Bezen is currently working on the foundation of a think tank/consultation agency called the Izmir Policy Centre (IzPoCent). To conduct her research, she has obtained several international funds and grants.
Bezen has published articles, books, book chapters and policy briefs related to her area of interest. One of her more recent topics of interest is the human security aspect of the Syrian refugee crisis. In this regard, since 2016, Bezen has been engaging in volunteer work for Glocally Connected (based in California) in Turkey.
Her latest work, a co-authored book with Dr Selin Yildiz, is entitled Encounters in Borderland: Syrians in Turkey and is due to be published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
