Professor Azad Mammadov

Translation Studies

Azerbaijan University of Languages

Professor Mammadov received his PhD in linguistics from Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages in 1990, and qualified as a Doctor of Sciences in Linguistics from Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, Baku in 2003. His research interests deal with discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics and translation studies.

Azad has published several monographs and textbooks, as well as scholarly articles in publications including the International Journal of Sociology of Language, Rask Journal, Lodz Papers in Pragmatics, Asia Pacific Translation and Intercultural Studies, and the International Review of PragmaticsHe has presented papers at various international linguistic and translation studies conferences organised by numerous international universities including Wroclaw University and the University of Eastern Finland.

He has also translated Noam Chomsky's Language and Mind and Umberto Eco's Confessions of a Young Novelist into the Azerbaijani language.
