Dr Aslam Khan is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. Before joining Bahir Dar University, he also served as Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Political Science and Administration at Yobe State University, Nigeria. Prior to that, he was Assistant Professor of Political Science at Aligarh Muslim University, India. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at Andhra University, India.
He earned his PhD from Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, India, in Political Science with a thesis titled ‘United States Policies Towards South Asia With Special Reference To India Since 1991’ in 2009, and his MA in Political Science with 1st division from Aligarh University, India, in 2003. His dissertation investigated the US policy objectives in South Asia with its main focus on Indo-US relations since 1991.
Aslam has been been very actively engaged in his research pursuits concerning the US and South Asia, peace and conflict, South Asian politics, African politics and terrorism. He has published several articles in refereed journals published by Sage and Taylor & Francis in the aforementioned areas. He has presented at various conferences of repute. He is also a member of the editorial board of several reputed journals, and serves as reviewer for scores of international peer-reviewed journals.
He has also been invited to deliver the keynote address and resource person at various national and international conferences, and serves as a member of the international advisory committee for various international conferences. He is a member of the International Political Science Association, Canada and the Midwest Political Science Association, USA, and is associated with the International Peace Research Association. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Council of the Asia Pacific Peace Research Association.
