Dr Ashwani Kumar


Dr Harisingh Gour Central University

Ashwani Kumar is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at the School of Biological Sciences, Dr Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar, India. He obtained PhD in biomass and bioenergy from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He has been awarded several national and international fellowships such as a Commonwealth Fellowship in the Functional Genomics Laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, a Claude Leon Foundation and  National Research Foundation Fellowship in South Africa at the Durban University of Technology, and finally a Rhodes University Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Ashwani sits on the editorial board of several journals and has reviewed for numerous additional journals throughout his career. He is currently a life member of the National Institute of Ecology and the Biotech Research Society of India, and also serves on the Commission on the Environmental Management of International Union of Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, India.  Ashwani's research interests are in metagenomics, bioenergy, biofertilizers and plant abiotic stress. He has published more than 40 peer reviewed articles, 14 Book chapters, and spoken at 40 Conferences. He is presently co-investigator on a DBT sponsored project researching 2.12 crore INR.
