Dr Ashokkumar Balasubramaniem

Dr Ashokkumar Balasubramaniem earned his PhD in Microbiology in 2003 at the Madurai Kamaraj University, India, before undertaking Postdoctoral Research at University of California, Irvine, USA, while he worked on Molecular Transport Physiology of Vitamins. His findings were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and American Journal of Physiology series. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Biotechnology at the Madurai Kamaraj University, India. His current research is on 'Genotype and phenotype correlations of congenital disorders associated with nutrition and metabolism.'. He is also using C. elegans (Nematode) as an animal model in understanding the physiology of vitamin transport mechanisms.

Ashok has won the prestigious award of International Fellowship for Indian Young Biomedical Scientists (2016-2017) by the Indian Council of Medical Research and visited the Department of Neurology, University College London for six months to work on Clinical whole exome sequencing of Neurodegenerative disorders. He has been the reviewer for Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, International Journal of Cancer Biology, Journal of Neurology Forecast and Annals of Medical Case Reports. He has published several research articles in reputed international journals along with reviews and book chapters and also presented at international conferences and symposia.
