Dr Antonio Soria-Verdugo

Thermal and Fluids Engineering

Carlos III University of Madrid

Antonio Soria-Verdugo finished his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain, in 2006. After spending a year working in the industry, in the Research & Development department of Besel S.A., he started his PhD studies in the department of Thermal and Fluids Engineering at the Carlos III University of Madrid. As part of his PhD studies, he completed his Masters in Thermal and Fluids Engineering in 2008, obtaining the Best Student Record Award. He defended his PhD thesis in December 2010 with a rate of Cum Laude, receiving the Outstanding Thesis Award. Antonio began his post-doctoral work in December 2010 in the department of Thermal and Fluids Engineering at the Carlos III University of Madrid, and became an Associate Professor in 2017.

His research activities focus on the conversion of alternative fuels, such as different types of biomass, which can be employed as substitutes of fossil fuels with a lower associated emission of pollutants. He also investigates the performance and optimization of several different kinds of renewable systems for both heat and power generation. He maintains an active research collaboration with researchers of numerous international universities and research centers. Antonio's teaching activities include leading lecturing courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students since he started work at the Carlos III University of Madrid. The topics of his lectures are varied and include power plants, renewable energy, heat and mass transfer, and engineering thermodynamics.
