Dr Anirban Ray is currently a DS Kothari (UGC, MHRD) postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Kalyani, India. His research interests are in the interdisciplinary areas of science, which encompass biochemistry and bio-based technology. His research concerns the innovative field of antioxidant assay-guided biochemical characterization followed by the putative identification of potent compounds of phyto-origin; the physical and biochemical characterization of phyto-gel; the evaluation of the biological activities of fractionated plant extracts on various animal cell-lines; plant tissue culture; and the meditated conservation of endangered germplasms. His findings have been published in journals and books of international repute. He is serving as a reviewer for various journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Apple Academic Press, and others.
Anirban's educational background includes a PhD in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and an MSc in Microbiology from Bangalore University, India. His scientific publications and the merit of the outcome of his doctoral study have been recognised by the University Grant Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource and Development through the award of the Dr DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship to allow him to pursue his research further in Indian academia. He believes in the proper dissemination of knowledge for human wellbeing, and in improving the quality of human resources suitable for academia and application-oriented domains.
