Heat Transfer in Nucleate Boiling

This book presents the analysis of fundamental achievements and the unique results of original studies of various researchers in the field of boiling processes. It shows that boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux depend on physical properties of both liquid and heat releasing surfaces, as well as their geometric parameters.

It should serve as the basis for developing a numerical solution to the problem describing the most complex mechanism of heat transfer during boiling. The calculation algorithms given here also allow the development of computational programs aimed at optimizing the weight, dimensions, and cost of the designed heat transfer equipment.

As such, the book will be useful for specialists dealing with cryogenic and refrigeration technology, oil refining, and nuclear and space technology.

Ivan I. Gogonin is a well-known scientist in the field of heat and mass transfer in boiling and condensation processes. His research focuses on heat transfer in boiling liquid films on irrigated smooth and finned tubes, methods for enhancing boiling heat transfer, and stabilizing the film flow at a minimum irrigation density, as well as the effect of capillary forces during irrigation of tube bundles, heat and mass transfer in structured packing, among others. He is the author and co-author of several books.
