In order to design innovative debris flow control structures, theoretical, laboratory and field studies have been conducted, through which the book is able to calculate the dynamic and static loads acting on the structures and use this data to determine the reliability and risk of it.

Givi Gavardashvili is Director of the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of the Georgian Technical University and an Academician of the Georgian Academy of Engineering. He served as a chief engineer of over 270 projects of environmental protection designed for the energy and transport corridors of Georgia and as an expert for over 100 environmental impact assessment projects.
