Pre-Publication

If you are preparing your manuscript, please view our Forms & Guidelines page for quick reference.

You will have a dedicated point of contact

All our authors are assigned a single point of contact throughout the pre-publication process. This means we are able to build strong relationships quickly and effectively, and are responsive and efficient in the way we work with you.

You can publish your work in a timely manner

We understand that there are occasions when it is valuable to publish and share your work within a relatively short timescale. We appreciate that when you know what you want to publish, you do not necessarily want to wait too long before you are in a position to make your work public.

As a publishing house, we are unusual in that our entire production process, including typesetting, cover design and printing, is undertaken by our talented in-house team. This gives us a particularly high level of control and the ability to be flexible and adaptive to specific author requirements, including timings.

We work with our authors to make sure that, while time and care is taken in the preparation of a manuscript, this does not come at the expense of unnecessary delay. Some of our authors have published their work within three months of a proposal submission being accepted. While this is in no way a typical timeframe, it does indicate the efficiencies we are able to offer where both the author and our Editorial Panel agree that the manuscript is publication-ready.

You set the pace of publication

While it is possible for authors to publish their work within a relatively short space of time, this does not mean that pre-publication has to be done at speed.

We allow every author to choose the pace at which they work and set it at a level that suits them. You will never be rushed before you are ready, nor will you be held back by the way we work. You have complete flexibility.

You are always in control

We believe that authors should have the opportunity to publish their work and present their arguments as they originally intended. We understand the advantages of this approach, because often the work we publish is of such a specialised nature that our authors are the leading expert in their subject.

That is why, although our Editorial Panel is responsible for maintaining quality across our entire catalogue, we establish a balance between our editorial guidance and the level of control you retain in how your work is published.

You will be supported every step of the way

Whether you are publishing your work for the first time or have a long publishing history, our team will work with you to make publication an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Your single point of contact not only means continuity and someone who builds a real understanding with you, but also someone with the decision-making capability to ensure progress continues at the right pace.

We form strong and lasting relationships with many of our authors that continue long after publication, often over many years and a number of titles.
