• "[Second Thoughts on Capitalism and the State is a] profoundly reflective book shows a pathway forward for academics and activists alike who are stymied by the disconnect between deep critical scholarship and emancipatory social change, yet who will still not give up the good fight."

The Arts, Design and Culture in Cities

This series is coordinated by AMPS (Architecture, Media, Politics, Society). It seeks to publish studies from a diverse range of art, design, cultural and environmental studies practitioners, ideally interested in the relationship between their disciplines and any aspect of the built environment. Examples of themes that we would welcome include, but are not limited to: design cultures, environmental issues, community activism, art practice, media studies, science and technology. Non-built environment studies are also welcome.

The chief series editor is Dr Graham Cairns, Executive Editor, AMPS. He has worked in architectural studios in London and Hong Kong and ran a multi-media performing arts company, Hybrid Artworks, with a specialism in video installation and performance art. The author and editor of eight books, he has presented papers at interdisciplinary conferences around the world and has published on architecture, urban design, film, interior design and advertising.
