Meet our Authors: Ron D. Petitte - August 2014

Dr. Ron D. Petitte is a tenured Professor of Politics & Government at Bryan College in Tennessee, where he heads the discipline of Politics & Government, which he developed and in which he has taught for 16 years. In addition, he directs the Bryan College Center for Leadership & Justice. His Justice & Mercy Initiative has as its primary focus countering human trafficking, with a special emphasis on the plight of women and children.

Ron is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and a recipient of the George Washington Honor Medal. His culminating service was as an Army Inspector General, at the Pentagon, in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as a teacher in the Jobs for Life prison ministry of his church, Westminster Presbyterian, where he serves as an elder.

Under Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Ron has authored Civilization at Risk: Seeds of Strife, a critically-acclaimed book, which has been deemed “a profound wake-up call to the horrible worldwide reality of human trafficking”.

He explains his reasons for choosing to publish with Cambridge Scholars and emphasises our commitment to leading-edge thinking:

“As one who has found a second life in academia, I knew little about publishing, beyond the stories of those who had run that gauntlet; the challenge often being described in mythological terms. I knew so little that I had an advantage, such that when Cambridge Scholars Publishing sent me its monthly review of books, rather than purchasing one, I offered them the manuscript I was developing. The system is not supposed to work this way; moreover, my manuscript dealt with a subject that is beyond the borders of academia: human trafficking, specifically, the enslavement of women and children for sexual purposes. To their everlasting credit, Cambridge Scholars took the challenge and broke new ground, to make a major contribution to countering this 21st Century scourge.

Needless to say, I have appreciated and enjoyed, so very much, working with all the wonderful people at Cambridge Scholars; theirs is a great team. Throughout our relationship there only has been graciousness, consideration, and professionalism on their part. Cambridge Scholars are servant leaders of the first order, which distinguishes them from other publishing houses.”
