Meet our Authors: Morna Ramday – November 2016

Morna Ramday holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and presently teaches at Silverstone University Technical College, where she most enjoys supporting sixth formers to research and write in preparation for going to university. At present, she is planning further pieces focusing on Dracula, the Gothic novel, and the libertine in Victorian literature.

With Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Morna authored her first book, Man Up: A Study of Gendered Expectations of Masculinities at the Fin de Siècle, which critically explores insights into the ways male authors responded to major upheavals demanded by New Woman authors and how masculinities could successfully negotiate these changing gender dynamics.

Morna explains her reasons for publishing with Cambridge Scholars:

Cambridge Scholars Publishing approached me as I was nearing the completion of my PhD and, after talking with an editor about my thesis and how to adapt it into book form, I took them up on the opportunity to publish with them. From then until the book was published, they were both patient and supportive throughout the whole procedure. Their advice and help through the adaptation was invaluable as I was completely inexperienced regarding this processEach part of the undertaking is guided by an expert in that section, and is completed by the design department who helped to create the eye-catching cover. Each person is always accessible and they respond swiftly and knowledgeably to every query. The finished book is something I can be proud of.
