Mastering the Credit Processing Mechanism in Mauritius: Demystifying the Process

This book focuses on the credit processing mechanism used in Mauritius. It is widely known that Mauritius uses an inherently bank-based financial system; however, many people are oblivious to the credit processing mechanism in operation. This book addresses such a lack of understanding. It will appeal to a wide range of readers, such as credit officers, managers, new recruits, anyone involved in credit processing, university graduates enrolling in banking courses, and borrowers wishing to know how their credit requests are being processed, as well as anyone interested in furthering their understanding of credit processing. In a nutshell, this book serves as a background source of information in view of mastering the whole gamut of credit processing in Mauritius.

Dr Indranarain Ramlall is Senior Lecturer at the University of Mauritius, having previously served as Credit Corporate Officer at the State Bank of India (Mauritius) and Fund Manager at Anglo-Mauritius Financial Services Limited. He also previously worked within the Financial Markets Division and the Financial Stability Unit at the Bank of Mauritius. His research interests include financial stability, central banking, risk management, investment analysis, econometric modeling, economics and finance in Mauritius, and the economics of climate change.

“This book is a well-planned and careful analysis of “insights” pertaining to credit analysis, and will therefore be important to a wide variety of bankers. It definitely serves as a vital practical guide for credit analysts and will be a key tool for conducive lending decisions.”
Pravind Appanah, Money Laundering Reporting Officer at a major international bank in Mauritius.

“Dr Ramlall has done a great job by writing this book which enlightens lots of dark spots in credit processing and credit management in the real world. The book is very practical and can be used as a handbook for professionals in credit processing as well as for university students. Some technical concepts have been deeply analysed and made very simple, and it is clear that the book has been written with lots of passion and dedication.”
Mr Srikissoon Bhojraz, Corporate Account Executive at The Mauritius Commercial Bank and Fellow of The Institute of Financial Studies, UK.

“This book is the first to elaborate the basics of banking. It provides an invaluable contribution to a new generation on banking products and techniques and will therefore better prepare the bankers of the future in their work.”
Mr Darmen Hurkoo, Head of SME Banking at the State Bank of Mauritius.
