Dr Jagadish Timsina is an Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia; an Adjunct Professor at the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Nepal; and the Director of Studies at the Hamro Institute of Business Technology, Sydney, Australia. He holds a PhD in Agronomy (Crop Modelling) from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos (1989). He has also worked with the Institute of Agriculture & Animal Sciences at Tribhuvan University, Nepal; the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia; and the International Rice Research Institute and the International Maize and Wheat Research Institute offices in Bangladesh and the Philippines. As an Honorary Principal Fellow, he publishes research papers together with collaborating scientists from South Asia and Australia. As an Adjunct Professor, he gives occasional lectures to crop modelling and agronomy students at the AFU Agronomy Department, supervises the theses and dissertations of postgraduate students at the university, and helps faculty members in developing research proposals for external funding. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, several non-peer reviewed articles and proceedings either as the first or a co-author. His major research interests include soil fertility and plant nutrition; conservation agriculture; water and nutrient management in cropping/farming systems; cereal and legume crops; crop and systems simulation modeling, and natural resources management. He is a well-known and internationally recognized scientist, with substantial international agricultural research, extension and management experience, particularly in Asia and Australia.
