"[Genetically Modified Organisms: A Scientific-Political Dialogue on a Meaningless Meme is] presents the debate associated with introducing GMOs as a traditional debate between science and progress against dogma. After reading it, I hope that science will win for the sake of all of us."

Distribution and Supply Logistics

What is logistics? What is distribution and supply? What is supply chain management? Which elements create distribution and supply space? Which aspects affect storage design? Which information technologies are suitable for distribution and supply systems? What costs affect distribution and supply systems?

These are just some of the questions explored in this book. In addition to providing theoretical analysis of the problems of distribution and supply, it practically demonstrates the many ways of using of heuristics to solve specific tasks. It brings together eight case studies to investigate facets such as designing distribution systems, location problem solving, distribution and collection of goods solutions, and inventory management solutions in particular companies. As such, it will appeal to students in the field of logistics, as well as logistics managers, designers and planners.

Martin Straka is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Logistics and Transport in the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies of the Technical University of Košice, Slovakia. He is also a member of the Slovak Society for Applied Cybernetics and Informatics at the Institute of Control and Informatization of Production Processes at the same institution. His research is focused on the logistics of distribution, supply and production, in addition to the modelling and simulation of logistic systems in his work. His publications include The Methodology for the Logistics System Simulation Model Design; Manufacturing Strategy: Applying the Logistics Models; and Distribution Logistics as a Part of the Micrologistics Model of a Company, among others. He also received the silver medal of the Union of Slovak Scientific and Technological Societies in 2016.
