International Journal of American Studies is a peer reviewed journal to be launched in spring/summer 2013. The journal will be launched to provide an opportunity for scholars from various disciplines related to American studies to publish high-quality original research articles, essays and critical reviews that meet the general criteria of significance and scientific excellence. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
U.S. Literature
U.S. History
U.S. Culture and Art
U.S. Politics and Economics
U.S. Education System
Georgian-American Relations

All manuscripts should be sent electronically to: Irakli Tskhvediani (; by the 30th of April, 2013. All submissions will go through a peer review process.
Style guides for papers:
Manuscripts should not ordinarily exceed fifteen standard pages (A4) including the abstract and the contributor's short bio. All papers must conform to The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition in all matters of form and should be typewritten in MS Word 2003. Use Times New Roman: 10 pts fonts for the main text and all additional parts except endnotes and index (where you should use 9pts), and chapter headings (where you should use 16pts). All text should be single-spaced.

Editor(s) Biography

Irakli Tskhvediani is a professor of English and American literature at Akaki Tsereteli State University (Kutaisi, Georgia). He defended his doctoral thesis "The Poetics of Myth in James Joyce's Ulysses" at Tbilisi State University in 2002. Its revised version was later published as a book (Kutaisi: Akaki Tsereteli State University Press, 2006). Professor Tskhvediani's specific scholarly interests focus on English and American literary modernism. He has published extensively on the modernist mythic experiment and urban poetics in English and American modernist novel concentrating on the experimental narratives of James Joyce and John Dos Passos.
From 2005 to 2011 Professor Tskhvediani served as the chair of the Department of West European and American Literature at Akaki Tsereteli State University. Currently he is holding the position of full professor at the Department of English. At the same time he is the director of graduate (MA) program in American studies and co-director of PhD program in American literature.
In 2010 Professor Tskhvediani was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to conduct research at the University of California in Santa Cruz. In 2012 US Department of State and Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia granted him a Federal Assistance Award to set up the publication of a peer-reviewed journal of American Studies.
