This volume is a collection of eleven papers written by scholars from around the world, who came together in their shared interest to discuss current trends and issues in higher education. Nataša Bakić-Mirić, PhD, is currently a Language Instructor at a foreign languages institute in Bologna. She also teaches at the University of Niš Medical School in Serbia, and is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Suleyman Demirel University in Almaty. Her research is heavily focused on intercultural communication, multiple intelligences theory, English for Specific Purposes, and the poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley. She is the author of four books, and the co-editor of another, with over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She also serves as a reviewer and editor in several international and national journals, and is a member of numerous professional associations, having presented at various international conferences. She is the co-editor of SDU Journal of English Studies, published by Suleyman Demirel University in Almaty. Dr Bakić-Mirić has received several grants allowing her to pursue her research interests abroad and has been an invited lecturer at several foreign universities.

Davronzhon Erkinovich Gaipov, PhD, teaches at Suleyman Demirel University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He is the Dean of the Faculty of Philology at the same university, and also oversees hiring and faculty development, in addition to working on curriculum design. His research is heavily focused on multilingual education, multilingualism, and language policy. He has co-authored a scientific-terminological electronic dictionary in four languages (namely English, Russian, Kazakh and Turkish), and he serves as a member of the editorial board of two foreign journals and has presented papers at several conferences. He is the co-editor of one book and of the academic journal SDU Journal of English Studies, published by Suleyman Demirel University in Almaty. In 2012, Dr. Gaipov received a grant to pursue his research interests at the University of Birmingham, UK.
