"[Second Thoughts on Capitalism and the State is a] profoundly reflective book shows a pathway forward for academics and activists alike who are stymied by the disconnect between deep critical scholarship and emancipatory social change, yet who will still not give up the good fight."

Contemporary Television Series: Narrative Structures and Audience Perception

Contemporary Television Series: Narrative Structures and Audience Perception proposes an interdisciplinary and multicultural approach of old concepts like fiction, reality and narrativity applied to actual worldwide television series. The authors that have contributed to this volume analyze the almost invisible barriers between fiction and reality in television series from different perspectives. The results of their studies are extremely interesting and revealing. The new perspectives offered by this volume will be of great interest to any scholar of European and international studies, because they bring to light new ideas, new methodologies and results that could be further developed. This volume allows readers to explore these unique insights, even if they are not senior researchers, and to easily digest the content, and also to acknowledge the impact of the viewing of television series on reality and on their own lives.

"Contemporary Television Series might appear to be a typical collection of somewhat unrelated chapters on popular TV series. It provides, however, a fresh and insightful take on mostly fictional TV series from the western (and Turkish) part of TV land. [...] Contemporary Television Series pursues the theme of new TV programming with dignity and a sheer scale of not very well-known information on the TV industry and its reception, both by the public and academics. It describes and brings to light oft en forgotten or unknown, but nevertheless interesting, TV series and also deals with contemporary politics concerning the historical and social changes Europe along with the rest of the world are currently undergoing."
