This book examines the trends, perspectives and changes witnessed in the previously undocumented communities of India’s northeast, emphasising the continuity and transformations of these societies. Each chapter questions the nature of change, and highlights issues which are not a matter of choice but of conviction of the society. N. William Singh teaches Sociology at Pachhunga University College, Aizawl, having previously been a DAAD Scholar at Freie Universitat, Berlin. He has published research papers in a number of reputed journals, and has contributed chapters on India’s northeast to various edited volumes.
Malsawmdawngliana teaches History at Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. He was the recipient of the Dr Sheela Raj Award for Best Thesis from the University of Hyderabad in 2013, and is a member of the editorial board for the peer-reviewed International Journal on Interdisciplinary Research. He recently published the book Mizo Narratives: Accounts from Mizoram (2013), and has presented his work at a number of conferences both in India and abroad.
Saichampuii Sailo teaches Psychology at Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. She has contributed a number of research papers to various national and international journals. Her forthcoming book is titled Suicide: A Multi-disciplinary Approach.
